Blair McDonough's route into Neighbours was slightly different from the usual method of studying at acting school and then trying for auditions, with Blair starring first in the Australian version of the popular reality television series "Big Brother" in 2001. His popularity gain during his time on the show enabled him to pursue a career in acting and saw him secure the role of Stuart Parker in Neighbours in 2001.

Blair's time on the show saw him involved in many big storylines and star alongside big Australian names such as Delta Goodrem and Holly Valance. 2006 saw his time with Neighbours come to an end with Blair planning to move onto other things in the entertainment world. Whilst there was nothing concrete lined up for the young star as he left Neighbours, he had plans to attempt to get a job in presenting either in Australia or in the United Kingdom (where he had visited several times and made several appearances on shows, such as Big Brother's Little Brother, in 2005).

During his time on Neighbours Blair has had several romances, including a long term one with a non celebrity. Blair's most high profile relationship was that with Delta Goodrem for a brief period in which they were on the show together.

Summer of 2006 saw Blair struggling to find acting roles despite being a popular hit on Neighbours.
