After starring in the second series of Australian pop idol in 2004 (in which he finished in 11th place) Daniel joined the cast of Neighbours in his first major acting role.

He was received by fans of the show with mixed reaction. Many pointed out that acting wasn't Dan's strong point and continued to raise questions as Dan's acting ability continued along a similar standard to that which he began with. Dan was however welcomed by the shows producers and fellow cast members and took part in various Neighbours publicity events as well as growing as a celebrity.
