Sasha first appeared in Neighbours in 2006 as one of Boyd Hoyland’s fellow students at University. The pair developed a firm friendship as they both panicked over an upcoming human anatomy as they began their general medicine course. Boyd was concerned at having to dissect a human corpses and Sasha helped coax him back into the classroom after he ran out.

Despite their solid friendship Sasha soon made it clear that she wanted more from Boyd, who was currently going through a rough patch with Janae. Boyd and Janae's main problem was their differing views on their future. Janae expressed a desire for children and was left looking immature as she aggressively attempted to prevent Boyd from making any relationship with his female classmates as he began University. Sasha proved to be much more of a match for Boyd than Janae, a fact commented upon by Max fairly passionately.

Sasha's connection to Ramsay Street grew closer as Karl Kennedy explains that he has known her family for several years, having worked with her parents who are both surgeons. However despite Sasha's increasing fondness of Boyd and the praise gotten from all residents of the street Boyd didn't respond to her advances as his mind seemed occupied with Janae despite their split.
