Summer is the younger sister of Boyd and child of Max and his wife claire who died when Summer was young. The family move into number 32 Ramsay Street in late 2003 and became a permant addition to the Street.

Summer began school at Erinsborough High shortlyafter arriving in Erinsborough. She settled in fairly well and made friends. Summer did suffer a degree of bulling after falling out with another girl about a paper round route which she was given. Boyd helped out though and eventually the disagreement was resolved.

In 2003 Summer began having a series of seziures. This was worry for Max, who at the time was a lone parent looking after Summer and Boyd. After being rushed to hospital after having being rescued by Drew after collapsing inside a burning house, she was diagnosed with long QT sydrome.

Summer was friends with most of the Ramsay Street residents and manged to fit in well with most of them. She became close to Steph Scully who seemed to be growing closer and closer to Max. Summer encoraged Steph to pursue her heart and rejoced when the pair got together.

2005 saw Summer join a private school away from Ramsay Street which sees Summer away for large periods of time. She returns to Ramsay Street at big holidays and during time off given to her by the school. This change threatened her friendship with Bree Timmins as she found herself competing for the role of Bree's best friend with new resident Rachel Kinski. This saw the three fall out over Christmas 2005 when Summer returned briefly. Help from Max and Susan helped to repair the damage though and the three found themselves friends as the holidays drew to a close.
