Sky arrived in Erinsborough after living in the Australian countryside with her father Joe Mangel. Sky stood out from many of the existing Ramsay Street residents due to a lack of fear of expressing her feelings
Sky stayed with her grandfather Harold Bishop in number 28 Ramsay Street. They pair got along well and it became apparent that Sky was both kind and considerate. After consideration Sky decided to stay on in Erinsborough for the foreseeable future, enrolling at Erinsborough High and integrating into the community.
Sky did struggle in some situations since she enjoyed being different and telling people she was, often leading to confrontations. This did not stop her from making friends though with a core group of friends emerging many of whom lived in Ramsay Street.
Sky became close friends with Boyd Hoyland and later Scott Timmins. The group became very close and Sky adjusted to this new social status, but retained much of her uniqueness. As time went by Sky and Boyd drew closer and a strong romantic link was forged between them. There relationship lasted several months but was fairly problematic and they had broken up several times over these months. Boyd revealing that he'd had a relationship with Serena whilst on one of these breaks, and Sky admitting falling into Dylans arms after being told this news saw the pair finally breaking up for good. They agreed to stay friends but this was strained as each began new relationships, Sky with Dylan and Boyd with Janae. Eventually their friendship did prevail though the pair spent less and less time together.
2005 saw Sky come face to face with the man who shot her mother several years ago.
Kerry Mangel was protesting at a rally when Sky was younger trying to prevent the hunting of wild birds at a nearby lake. She was confronted by a hunter and died from a shot from his rifle. The shock of meeting the man and the rage that consumed Sky saw her head after him with every intention of killing him herself. She was stopped though and the confessions of sorrow and guilt from the man saw a change in Sky's outlook in life. Some of the bitterness towards others was lost and Sky began to intergrate with other more. Her black hair with bangs also went as Sky reverted back to her natural blonde.
Sky's relationship with Dylan began to struggle in early 2006 as she found herself watching as Paul Robinson retaliated against Harold Bishop after he attacked Paul and attempted to kill him. Paul successfully managed to run Harold and Lou's General Store out of business and Sky found Dylan on Paul's sides once he learnt all the facts of the situation. Dylan also accepted the role of joint managed at both the General Store and Lucinda's (which was used to drive the General Store out of business) which put further pressure on their relationship.
