Dylan arrived in Ramsay Street looking to make something of his live, after Stingray managed to successfully move from Colac to Erinsborough and work hard at school. Dylan was welcomed by Susan who agreed to let him stay with her and Stingray in number 28, but Dylan was less warmly received by Stingray who was fearful of his brother after years of being berated by Dylan.
Dylan’s quick temper saw him cause a few problems in the street, especially with David Bishop who he fell out with fairly rapidly. David's attitude towards Dylan and Stingray saw Dylan square off with David on several occasions and led to him breaking into number 22 and smashing up the living room. Despite being positive that Dylan was the cause of this David was unable to prove this and Dylan managed to evade any trouble.
Despite his problems with David, Dylan became fast friend with David's niece Sky Mangel and the pair soon found themselves becoming involved, despite Sky being in a relationship already with Boyd Hoyland. Eventually Sky and Boyd split up, thanks in part to Sky's growing feelings for Dylan, and she and Dylan soon found themselves in a new relationship.
Dylan found more problems in the return of an old friend, Roo, who had covered for him several years back in a criminal break in that they had carried out. This protection left Roo feeling Dylan owed him for helping out. Dylan managed to get Roo to leave Erinsborough before things got too heated, thanks to advice from new mentor Paul Robinson. This success was short lived though as Roo got revenge upon Dylan but forcing him rob a gas station by threatening to hurt Stingray. Dylan did but was caught clearly on CCTV cameras as Roo had planned. This saw both Dylan and Stingray spending some time in prison before being helped out by Paul who tracked down Roo and struck a deal. This saw Dylan and Stingray released for Christmas 2005.
Dylan's position as protégée to Paul Robinson continued, despite some protest from Dylan's father Kim who took a dislike to Paul as many of the other residents of Ramsay Street had. This relationship with Paul saw Dylan join forced with Elle Robinson as manger of Lucinda's which was set up by Paul to drive Lou and Harold's General Store out of business. This fact caused problems for Dylan with Sky as she saw what Paul was doing. Dylan and Sky managed to work through this problem though they struggled as the General Store finally went under and Harold and Lou were forced to hand over the keys to Paul and his Lassiter cooperation.
Things gradually began to unravel in the Dylan / Paul partnership as Paul's devious nature began to shine through. The break up saw the beginning of a long standing feud between Dylan and Paul. This spilled over to encompass all of the Timmins's as they found themselves in possession of a stake of the Lassiter cooperation.
Dylan left Ramsay Street in early 2007 as spiraled out of control after the death of Stingray. Dylan struggled to grieve over the loss of his brother and his bottled emotions turned to anger which saw him lashing out. His anger threatened to consume him and he agreed to Kim's offer of joining him as he returned to Northern Australia after Stingray's funeral.
