Stu arrived in Erinsborough from Oakey in late 2001, calling on Drew and Libby Kennedey after he split with his wife. Stu soon settled into life in Erinsborough as he moved in to number 30. He dated Dee and then Flick and remained in Erinsborough.

Stu became a good friend to Libby and was there for both she and Ben as Drew died in 2002.

Stu and Toadies relationship became strained with Dee's death. Whilst Toadie has not been paying attention whilst driving their honeymoon car, the breaks were found to be faulty which prevented Toadie from stopping the car from plunging into the sea.

Stuart's relationship with Sindi was first carried out in secret and cause critism when it was announced. Their relationship was frowned on due Sindi's closeness to Toadie. Toadie felt particularly aggrieved, seeing the woman whom he was close to marry with his best friend so soon after they split up. This rift was mended however it took a fair time, during which Toadie was venomous toward the pair

Stu has trained to become a police constable. His service was disrupted though after he heroically went back into the ablaze Lassiter complex to try and find Sindi, losing his sight in the process after being trapped with sindi as the Lou's pub collapsed.
