Steve blithely insists that Jim´s shock revelation doesn´t really bother him. However, his persistent family make sure he works through his denial and his anger. Ned reassures him that they will always be brothers, no matter who Steve´s real father is. Riley and Bridget offer wise advice from the perspective of adopted children: it doesn´t matter where you came from, it´s just important to be happy with who you are now and where you´re going. But just as Steve is beginning to come to terms with the news, Jim has another confession: Steve´s real dad was Jim´s former best friend. He died in Vietnam… and Jim claims to have killed him.

Ty invites Libby to a club night to watch a new DJ. Libby is reluctant but Steph insists that she has been giving up on life since the drama with Dan and it´s about time she went out and had some fun. Unfortunately Sam has had a similar idea. Seeking to recapture the good times they shared before she got ill, Sam and Dan head to the same club. Dan´s jealousy gets the better of him and he confronts Ty about their developing relationship but Ty refuses to rise to Dan´s bait. He calmly points out that Libby´s vulnerable emotional state is not his fault and that he won´t be warned off by an envious man who should be concentrating on his wife. Libby is impressed and the two nearly kiss. Is there something going on between the housemates after all?

Meanwhile Ty´s words are more significant than anyone realises: desperate to ensure that Dan will stay with her, Sam is playing a very dangerous game. Aware that the one thing Dan wants most in the world is a child, she secretly plans to get pregnant and continues to fake taking her bipolar medication.

Oliver and Elle are oblivious to the drama of their party pals as they negotiate their way around their new relationship. Oliver wants to move in together but Elle insists she wants to take things slowly this time.
