The question of whether Steph would love an adopted child as much as one she gave birth with seems to be troubling Steph the most. Max tries to convince her that it wouldn't make any difference to how she would treat them, using Summer and Boyd as an example of how Steph has dealt successfully with children. He explains his stance on the situation, which is he would treat any children that came to him as his own. He tells Steph that he loves Summer and Boyd equally but loves them differently as they're both individuals. He states that it doesn't really matter where a child has come from, if he is caring for it he will put his life into the. This seems to win Steph around and she agrees to continue with the adoption process.

When he touches on Bobby Susan shrugs him off saying their relationship is casual. Karl then pleads with Susan not to leave Erinsborough saying he needs her to cope. Susan presses this point saying he was the one that broke up with her and it's selfish for him to expect her not to move on when he claims to have. Karl tries to explain further but Susan is adamant. Their lives are separate now. Later Susan heads back to Scarlet's to see Bobby. She advances on him and, as he tries charm on her, tells him to be quiet as she doesn't need his words.
