Alex is deteriorating rapidly. He is attempting to continue as normal but is struggling for breath and looks in constant pain. He gets Susan to contact a priest so they can push forward their wedding. Meanwhile Rachel and Zeke leave pretending to head over to Bree's, but instead following up a lead which the private investigator gave over the phone about the whereabouts of Katya. Rachel is determined to find their sister and bring her home and feels that the appearance of her sister may spur her dad into fighting his worsening illness. Their first stop is to the general store where they buy tickets so they can get to the rehabilitation centre where Katya was spotted. They then stop off at the Scully’s to bring Summer and Bree up to speed and get them to cover for them. Zeke is convinced that the trip is a bad idea but he can't talk Rachel out of it. At Susan's Alex's condition has worsened. The pair were out walking when Alex was forced to stop. Max was nearby and helped them home and also dispelled Rachel and Zeke’s cover by assuring Susan and Alex that he hadn't taken Rachel and Zeke out. Karl is called and he arranges for palliative care to be setup for Alex. Alex asks about the kids and Susan pleads with Karl to try and track them down. Rachel and Zeke have managed to find Kayta, after causing a scene outside which brought some of the personnel out of the rehabilitation centre. She spends some time with them but refuses to return to Ramsay Street with them to see Alex, even after they tell her theat he's really ill. Katya returns to work but Rachel waits outside with Zeke so she can see her sister when she finishes work and try again to convince her to see their father. Zeke is voicing his doubts about hanging around when Karl finds them. He explains that their father doesn't have long left and manages to get them to leave. Katya is hidden nearby and overhears the concern about Alex's health. Karl catches a glimpse of her as they leave. Back at Susan’s and Alex is talking to the kids about how proud he is of them and how sorry he is that he's not going to see them grow up. After that they begin to dress for the wedding. Karl leaves, but as he heads down the driveway he sees Kayta sitting in a car nearby. He talks to her and manages to get her to go inside. Katya does so and shocks everyone especially Alex who's lost for words. Susan clears the room for the pair and Alex explains to his daughter how he's regretted his decision to throw her out ever since. Katya is angry though and expresses her hurt that he abandoned her at 16 and, despite his claims of regret, didn't make any attempt to find her. She tells her father that she won’t accept his apologies nor take pity on him as because he's dying.
Elle is helping Ned with his scripts as promised. The pair seem more relaxed around each other and their previous friendship seems to have been regained. They agree that the script is pretty poor, which Elle puts down to Gino's scriptwriting. Gino eventually arrives to walk Ned through a few scenes, which consists of Gino reading out lines and the part players repeating them. He enlists the help of Elle for the script reading. The pair find themselves in a love scene in which Ned, playing himself, admits that he was afraid of commitment and felt embarrassed at attempting a relationship with someone so out of his league. Gino is pleased with the script, but gets a shock when the pair continue with their own script looking intently at each other. The final part of the scene sees the pair required to kiss which Ned is reluctant to do at first. He gives in to Gino telling him to "go with it" and he and Elle oblique willingly, finally taking their relationship to the next level and leaving Gino lost for words next to them.
