Janelle receives good news as Melody phones to tell her that her novel is to be published. Keen to share the good news and rub Angie's nose in her success she heads off to the General Store to show off. Angie is speechless over the news but does her best to act with indifference. Angie manages to get back at Janalle later revealing that she's heard that Bree is responsible for writing most of the book. She also laughs at the fact that Janelle has an interview with a local paper reporter, whom is bound to ask Janelle lots of challenging questions. Janelle is worried by this and devises a scheme to help her with the questions. Using a hands free kit she feeds the questions to Bree and Kim, who are backed up with several books, and gets them to provide the answers which she repeats to the reporter. Things are a bit shaky as Janelle waits for the response and Lyn is tries to distract the reporter to draw attention away from the pauses, and she looses the ear piece halfway through the interview, but she manages to pull it off. Matters are made worse in the feud between Janelle and Angie when Kim states that the reason the pair are always fighting is down to the Angie attempting to start a relationship with him. This is news to Janelle who is shocked at the revelation.

Boyd responds to hearing that Janae is responsible for keeping the girls at University away from him. As revenge he plays Janae telling her that he is planning to drop out of University as he's struggling to get along with anyone there. This has the desired effect and a worried Janae rushes to University and tracks down the girl she threatened. Janae tries to talk to the girl, but she’s too afraid, and Janae ends up shout at her again. Kim calls to her as he sees Janae yelling at the girl. He asks her what's going on and Janae explains. He laughs when she mentions Boyd threatening to quit University, telling her that he doubts that Boyd would leave over such a thing. Janae realises Boyd's schemes and counters them by pretending that she's glad that he's leaving University the next time she sees him. She continues to apply pressure mentioning them settling down, getting married and having children and Boyd eventually cracks and admits he was lying about leaving University but was doing so as he was angry with Janae and her actions. The pair reconcile though and Janae agrees to stop meddling.

Karl continues to refuse to tell Max if there is something wrong with Steph. Max is left frustrated and returns to the Lassiter room and Steph. Steph has transformed though and the pair embrace and Max's doubts are pushed to the back of his mind. The next morning Max receives a phone call from Rosie telling him Summer's contracted a unpleasant disease. Steph encourages him to leave to be with his daughter and wavea away his concerns for her and Charlie. Later that day Max leaves Ramsay Street. Boyd and Steph stand outside number 32 Ramsay Street and watch the taxi depart. Once it's outside Steph sways on her feet and falls to the floor. A concern Boyd tries to talk to her.

Lyn is forced to admit her employment with Paul Robinson. Whilst attempting to understand, Susan admits she's disappointed with her friend. Lyn is left feeling guilty as Susan reminds her of what Paul is doing to Harold and Lou and the lack of reason for him attempting to destroy the General Store. Later at work, she is confronted by Lou who realises that she's working for Paul and expresses similar sentiments to Susan. Susan enters Lucinda's as Lou storms out. Lyn braces herself for another confrontation but Susan orders a coffee and apologies to Lyn.
