Steph's health is now critical as she continues to refuse treatment for her spreading breast cancer so she can prevent harm to Charlie. Karl suggests that she agrees to induce labour so they can tackle the cancer. Steph wants to hold on until Max arrives back from Fiji but Karl is apprehensive, admitting to Lyn outside that Steph may not live long enough. Whilst sleeping heavily Steph begins to dream of Oscar and Charlie. Both are grown up, with Oscar at the age of 18 and Charlie at 15, and are spending time in the Hoyland front room. It's Charlies birthday and the pair are watching the tape Steph made a few days ago which contain a message for Charlie in case she didn't make it through her battle with cancer. The pair talk about Oscars mother and how neither of them really knew her. A distressed Steph tries to make her presence felt but the dream is of a future in which Steph died whilst refusing treatment. Steph continues to dream and the boys talk about her further. It becomes clear that they've grown up as she would have wished but her presence is lacking and neither of them really knew Stephanie Hoyland. Steph tries repeatedly to communicate with the two boys but fails to get any response. As she finally wakes from the dream Steph sees Karl and tells him that she wants to have Charlie now.

Boyd is nervous about his next University class, gross anatomy which will involve the dissection of a human body. Boyd's nerves aren't helped by Janae who wonders aloud at to whether the body will stink and be infected. Once he's in the class though he finds a friend in Sasha whom offers him a few bits of advice. As the body is unveiled though Boyd runs from the room, Sasha follows him and Boyd explains about the situation with Steph and that it could easily be her lying on that table if things continue to go badly. Sashia listens to him and joins him as they return to class room. Boyd is called upon to make an incision into the body and does so successfully, however Sasha faints at the sight of the body opening. The pair continue to spend time with each other after class. Janae arrives at the Uni looking for Boyd but spies him laughing with Sasha and leaves angrily. Janelle gets involved in Janae's affairs when she hears about Boyd's apparent cheating. Janae is sure that there is an explanation for Boyd's behaviour but Janelle assures her daughter that Boyd is planning something. Janelle tracks Boyd down to University where he is sat at a table with Sasha. Janelle tries to intimidate Sasha but Sasha stands up to Janelle and gets her to leave, which impresses Boyd. Janae finds Boyd later and acts friendly towards Sasha whilst Boyd is with them. She changes her tune as Boyd leaves, but Sasha manages to play Janae coolly as she had done with Janelle earlier.

Janelle tries to get to the bottom of the Angie and Kim incident that happened years ago. She confronts Angie in the General Store and demands to know who her witnesses are that saw Kim try to start a relationship with Angie. Angie refuses to tell Janelle but eventually names Toadie as a witness. Janelle heads off trying to look for Toadie. Later Janelle returns having found that Toadie was in Sydney for the next few days. She tries to play down the fact that Angie had sent her scrambling around for nothing.
