Oscar is rescued by Ned just as he was about to step into the pond to retrieve the ball that he lost and is floating temptingly just out of his reach. The residents of Ramsay Street have gathered at the news and attempt to help Lyn search for her son. As Lyn panics with Janelle, Janae, Max and Steph Ned arrives with Oscar in tow. He explains how he found him and those gathered fuss over Oscar as they rejoice at his return.

Boyd and Janae talk about their upcoming wedding as Boyd practices his general check-up skills on Janae. He checks her tongue and blood pressure as they chat about the possibility of a double wedding with Janelle. Boyd is hesitant at first but admits that it would save money and shouldn’t be too bad. Back at home Janae tries on some wedding dresses that have been brought home to try from a local bridal shop. She’s concerned about how she looks at first but takes the breath away from both Ned and Lyn as they see her. Janalle’s response is more surprising as she tells Janae to take the dress of right away. It takes a few seconds for Janae to pick up the tone of Janelles voice and realise that something is wrong. She attempts to talk to her mother about this sudden change of opinion as it becomes clear that Janelle isn’t happy about the wedding anymore. Janae comes to the conclusion that Janelle is simply jelous of her daughter and has changed heart as she fears being upstaged. Janae heads over to number 32 but Janele arrives alter to bring her home telling Max, Steph and Boyd that she has some things to discuss with Janae. Janae hesitates at first and Boyd tells her that she can stay the night with him. Janae agrees to go home with Janelle though and sits on the sofa with her once back in number 26. Janelle attempts to explain her feelings when she saw Janae in the wedding dress for the first time. She tells Janae that she has changed her mind as Janae reminded her so much of herself as she was getting married to Kim and admits that she feels 16 is too young to get married. She goes on to explain that, whilst she loves Kim and her children, given the chance again she would not choose to marry Kim.

Charlie’s naming ceremony takes place the day after Oscar was found by Ned. Lyn was reluctant to attend at first but encouragement from Janelle, and a few heated words which Janelle threw at Max and Steph when she was retrieving Janae to talk about the wedding, see Lyn welcomed into the ceremony. Karl and Susan step forward in front of a small gathering of family and friends in the Scarlet bar and say a few words as Charlie’s life mentors. Max finishes the ceremony by thanking everyone for coming. Paul arrives late with a crate of beer and a bottle of wine from Izzy as well as a letter all of which are to be opened as Charlie turns 18. Max is disappointed that his sister has chosen not to attend and Paul explains that she’s keeping a low profile after the problems both she and Elle had caused the Hoyland and Scullys after their lapse of judgement risked the lives of Charlie and Oscar.

Mishka finds herself turning to cigarettes again as giving them up proves too hard. Lou expresses his disappointment at this, pointing out an anti smoking poster they have put near the kitchen in number 24 that shows the blackened lungs of a smoker, but Mishka says she can’t give up smoking. Hypnosis is suggested but this only increases Mishka’s stress further as she expresses fears of brainwashing as happened via propaganda as happened back in Russia. Harold heads to number 28 to enlist the help of Karl and Susan in encouraging Mishka to attempt hypnosis. When the three of them arrive back at number 24 they open the door to Mishka with a plate in hand demanding the packet of cigarettes from Lou which he holds in his hands. Lou tries to talk her out of having them but Mishka doesn’t listen and hurls a plate in his direction as she was threatening. Lou attempts to stay strong as Mishka picks up a second plate. This one hurts Lou as it shatters near him and Mishka rushes over to check he’s o.k. Karl brings up hypnosis but Mishka is still very sceptical and questions Karl as a doctor explaining she has heard rumours about his recent affairs. Mishka is eventually convinced though and the next day sees her settling down with Karl after Charlie’s naming ceremony. Karl begins the hypnosis but Mishka stops him. As Karl attempts to question her she admits that the smoking is tied to the fact that she has been lying to Lou since she met him. Karl tells her that she and Lou should be able to work through any problems but she explains that it’s a big problem as she is married to someone back in Russia.
