Rachel attempts to lessen Karl’s worries by spending time bonding with him. He continues to feel the effect of the mistakes made over Kerry’s paternity and Janelle’s determination to make him pay for this. Under the guise of getting help for her biology class which requires her to learn about DNA and the brain/spinal cord nervous system, she accompanies him to the hospital for the day. As they finish revision she tells Karl that she would like to make his position in her and Zeke’s life more permanent by giving him the title of their step father. Karl seems happy with the news and agrees as Rachel informs him it is what Alex would have wanted.

The battle between Katya and Guy ends with the bullet from the gun they were fighting over goes off amidst their struggle. Guy steps back as Katya falls to the ground from the impact of the bullet. He is visibly shaken by the event but quickly comes to his senses and flees from the scene. He stops once safely away from Katya and the gun to cheerfully inspect the bag of money Katya had left for him. His happiness quickly turns to fury and he finds the bundles of $100 notes in the bag only consist of single notes at both ends and green paper in between.

Pepper and Frazer attempt to compete to stay at number 30 after their revelation about them not being a couple which means that, with four rooms in the house and 5 people, one of them will have to leave. Ned is left with a tough choice on his hands and both Frazer and Pepper attempt to buy him over by sucking up to him whilst putting each other down. Pepper is helped by Rosie in her quest to secure a room and Will is helped by Frazer. In the end Ned snaps and tells them that they will decide who stays and goes in a big brother style vote to evict the one unlucky housemate with all of them will be up for nomination.

Karl, Susan, Rachel and Zeke are all at Erinsborough hospital as Katya is rushed in having been found by hikers in the bush. The police arrive quickly as Karl announces that Katya is in a very bad condition and hasn’t regained consciousness since entering the hospital. They gather at her bedside and are joined by Ned and Guy. As Ned takes Rachel and Zeke to the cafeteria, Guy whispers to the still unconscious Katya that he plans to stick around so he can find out where the $100,000 she was supposed to hand over to him has been hidden.
