Lou continues his efforts to support Lolly after the news of her abuse from step mother Sandy. Lou petitions Rachel, Zeke and Ringo into attending a school basketball game refereed by Susan. Lou joins the teens to show his support though Lolly is apprehensive about joining in. Her complaints that she is poor at ball sports is proven on the court as she struggles to get into the game even with the extra opportunities gifted to her by her friends. Lolly’s game is summed up when Rachel passes the ball to her directly under the guise of it slipping out of her hands. Lolly runs to the net with encouragement from Lou however her shot falls short and the ball rebounds of the bottom of the net and hit her on the nose. Lolly’s unhappiness with her performance is lessened a little as Lou praises her regardless, showing that he had her best intentions at heart.
Paul drags his daughter away from the explosion they have caused. Elle is keen to scour the scene to check to see if Oliver and Carmella are alive. Paul tells Elle that they are dead and going back to the van will likely lead to their arrest. Despite Paul’s advice Elle finds herself unable to do nothing and leaves the small room they retreat to shortly after arriving. She heads directly to Erinsborough hospital where she finds Carmella wandering in the corridor. Carmella explains what has happened and that Oliver is fine. She tells Elle that sheer luck saved them from death. As they neared the van Oliver had remembered that he had left some herbs behind at the supplier’s house they were visiting. They had turned to head back to the house when the van exploded and so were only hurt by flying glass and the force of the back draft. Seizing on the vulnerability of both Carmella and Oliver she again feigns sympathy for both of them carefully siding with their differing views.
Lolly helps Ringo get things back on track with Rachel after the awkwardness of their first kiss. After berating Ringo for his heavy handedness with Rachel she has him re-enact the event to try and work out how to turn things around. As she positions herself where Rachel was she notes the reflection of the toaster and tells Ringo she has a plan. This sees Ringo inform Rachel that he touched Rachel whilst they were kissing in an attempt to grab a spider that had crawled onto the back of her skirt. He explains that he didn’t tell her this at the time as he wanted to protect her after her admission that she suffers from arachnophobia. Rachel laughs at this and the two ink spots drawn on his hand as pretend bite marks impress her further. Whilst the story is quickly debunked, Ringo’s genuine concern over upsetting her appears to return them to their previous positive relationship.
Paul spends more time in the apartment he is letting Ned stay in. The pair continue to relax together and Paul’s practice pays off as he thrashes Ned at Doom Slayer. The pair appear to be enjoying each others company however things threaten to derail as Paul notices Elle’s pink headscarf on one of the dining table chairs. He accuses Ned immediately, however Ned calms him down and pretends that the scarf belongs to someone else. Paul is satisfied as Ned points out that Elle wouldn’t want anything to do with him. After Paul has left Ned calls Elle, who is busy attempting to start a relationship with Oliver, and sets up a second get together which she readily agrees to.
