Despite their temporary break from each other, Janae seems confident that her marriage with Boyd is secure. She gushes to Boyd in the Scarlet Bar telling him as much completely unaware that Glenn is in the back office. Boyd manages to keep Janae away from Glenn and doesn’t correct her assumptions that their relationship is still on track. Steph stumbles upon Glenn and Boyd a short while later and attempts to reason with him after seeing Janae’s hope. Boyd brushes aside Steph’s concern and Steph allows him and Glenn to leave. Steph struggles to keep the truth from Janae when she stops by the garage to ask about her motorbike. Janae tells Steph that it won’t be ready until later in the day and then shows her a side project she has been working on. She has bought the shell of a Triumph 6 car and plans to work on restoring it with Boyd. After talking things through with Toadie, Steph has another go at talking to Boyd. Their discussion grows heated as Boyd points out that Steph is on shaky ground advising about cheating after events with Max and Toadie. Steph stands her ground and her point sees Glenn question Boyd’s commitment to her. He tells her that he loves her and tracks down Janae to tell her the truth. Janae’s happiness is visibly sucked from her as Boyd explains that he won’t be returning to their relationship as he has chosen Glenn.
Carmella and Oliver play directly into Elle’s hands as she continues to orchestrate fractures in their relationship. She influences Oliver most, working on his nervousness about Carmella’s desperation to appear tough in front of Ray. Carmella helps perpetuate this image as she corners her Uncle and argues with him about the bomb which nearly killed her and Oliver. Ray’s genuine innocence doesn’t sway Carmella and Oliver stumbles upon the scene as Carmella continues to yell at Ray despite him clutching at his chest and showing signs of a heart attack. This callous streak fits into Elle’s picture of an out of control Carmella. As Ray repeats his innocence during his heart seizure Carmella believes him but then takes to puzzling over who else may be behind the attack. Her fixation drives an exasperated Oliver away and into the waiting arms of Elle. She has another trick up her sleeve and offers him the use of the Robinson country cabin so he can get away from the stress for a short while. She tells Paul of her final stroke a while before she implements it. Feigning a falling out with her father, Elle gives Oliver the chance of inviting her up to the cabin with him so they can both getaway from their worries. He takes the bait easily though remains clueless of Elle’s ulterior motive. Elle drives them to the cabin and she quickly speeds from Ramsay Street as she notices Carmella attempting to catch them before they leave.
Steph and Toadie find themselves thrown together as they continue to bump into each other in Ramsay Street and the Lassiter complex. Their encounters are awkward but they make an effort to be civil to each other. Steph gets advice from Toadie about how to deal with Boyd. His suggestion that she should confront Boyd again and encourage him to follow his heart is welcome and Steph attempts to repair burnt bridges again when the meet in Ramsay Street. She tells Toadie that she hates the distance between them and invites him back to number 32 for a beer and a catch up.
