Paul looses patience as he is plagued by a loss of hearing as several people attempt to have earnest conversations with him. With each incidence of his hearing fading he snaps at those he is talking to, appearing concerned about what is happening to himself but not voicing any concerns. Pepper gets the wrong end of the stick and jumps to the conclusion that they gifts she believes are from Paul are his way of suggesting that they have children together. Paul is forced to admit that he didn’t send the gifts, a fact which horrifies Pepper and sees her yelling at him in the middle of the Scarlet Bar. Harold also falls to Paul’s bluntness. He pleads with Paul to take Tazzle off his hands as the young cat has to vacate number 24 in preparation for Kerry’s return. Paul snarls at Harold and suggests her put the cat down and offers to kill it himself. Paul’s erratic behaviour concerns Elle however his problems continue as he zones out as Elle talks to him. She is implementing part of her revenge plan and Paul meekly agrees to her suggestion as he frets over what could be wrong with him.

Frazer continues to push away friends and family as he attempts to process the fact that he may never walk again. Having already shunned Rosetta he puts a brave face on as Ringo stops to visit with Lolly. Frazer’s fake optimism is picked up by Lolly but Ringo is just happy that his brother is on the mend. Frazer comes clean as the pair make another visit later on. He tells Ringo that he doesn’t want Ringo to take on the burden of caring for him and explains that he wants Ringo to return to their parents rather than stay in Ramsay Street. Frazer also suggest that Oliver leaves Ramsay Street pointing out that if his friend does successfully claim his family fortune, Erinsborough will be too small for him.

Pepper realises who the mysterious gifts are from as a cake is left at number 30 for her. The birthday cake has 8 candles which helps Pepper identify who it is from. She spends anxious hours water for Rosetta to arrive home so she can talk it through. They settle on the number 30 sofa and Pepper explains how she was pregnant when she was 17. She miscarried the child however she never had a chance to explain the miscarriage before her partner left and he assumed she had terminated the pregnancy. She points out that the 8 candles on the cake suggest that it is from her old flame as the child would be 8 if it had lived.

Elle begins to untangle some of the lies she told whilst scheming with Paul. Her first actions are to set things straight with Oliver. Meeting him in the park, Elle explains how Paul attempted to push them both together. As Paul’s schemes are revealed Oliver suggest that he be allowed to take actions against Paul as retaliation. Elle tells him to leave the revenge to her and encourages Oliver to make his peace with Carmella, who is innocent of the charges of cheating that both Elle and Oliver had been accusing her of. Whilst Oliver seems uneasy about trusting Carmella again his attitude towards her lightens and he finds himself smiling at Carmella’s fears that he intends to ask her to move out of number 30 to make room for Elle when he asks for a quiet word with her. Oliver assures Carmella that he and Elle are nothing more than friends.

Rosetta is dragged out of her depression over Frazer’s harsh words by Ringo and Lolly. They encourage her to join them to see a movie at Midpoint and she agrees after a mass of pestering. Whilst Rosie continues to bury herself with work the antics of Ringo and Lolly whilst on the bus force her to relent and join in. As they’re driven to the cinema they’re distracted by various strangers acting up during the journey. Ringo and Lolly crack up by the antics of the strangers. They imitate a girl singing loudly to music she is listening to on large headphones. Rosie chastises them for this and complains as they proceed to throw sweet wrappers at a younger couple making out on the back seats of the bus. Eventually Rosie finds herself joining in but accidentally throws an sweet at the couple rather than a wrapper. As a result she, Ringo and Lolly are chased off the bus by the angry couple who continue to run after them once outside. The three of them manage to evade their pursuers and enjoy the film together.
