Rosetta vents her fury with Frazer as he stubbornly resists her offer of a relationship. Rosie tells Frazer that she loves him however he maintains that he feelings are due to pity over his current situation. Rosetta retorts that she considers him to be pathetic at the moment due to the self pitying attitude he has adopted. Rosetta leaves Frazer to mull over her words and he takes positive action to correct his recent failures. The next day he heads to the hospital pool to take part in his physiotherapy. He insists on being allowed to move himself from his wheelchair to the special hoist which lowers him into the pool and he spends time swimming with the help of his physio. Oliver visits Frazer as his session comes to an end. Oliver commends Frazer’s change in attitude and Frazer admits that it was Rosetta who forced the change. Oliver passes this news onto Rosetta who is lifted by the fact that Frazer took her words to heart. An unexpected phone call from Frazer sees Rosetta rush to the hospital with hope on her mind. Frazer greets her warmly and tells her that he wants to pursue the case against the race track. Rosetta pushes him to mention their relationship which Frazer does but he fails to utter the words Rosie wants to hear. Frazer explains that he wants Rosetta to be involved during his long healing process but as a friend.
Carmella struggles to cope with the long hours and early starts the Cammeniti fruit business is demanding of her. The risks of pushing herself too far become clear as she has a near miss after falling asleep by the side of the pool. As she dozes she twists and falls off the chair and into the pool. The cold water and the presence of Oliver who had been approaching her as she fell prevent her from downing but the problems of letting tiredness build up are shown. The following morning and Oliver stops Carmella from getting behind the wheel as she attempts to rouse herself for the early morning tasks. As Carmella points out that she needs to do her job, Oliver offers to drive her to prevent an accident.
Elle continues to put her plans into place to bring her father down to the ground. Paul’s continued smugness sees Oliver repeat his request to be a part of the scheme. Elle retains her reluctance but Oliver’s vehemence sways her. They agree to maintain the illusion of a relationship between them to push Paul into believing that his plans are succeeding.
Paul finds himself loosing hearing repeatedly whilst talking to those around him. Elle picks up on his strange behaviour as she attempts to smooth over telling Paul that she and Oliver were finished. She had done this several days ago, however Paul’s hearing had faded during this conversation so he is baffled as she brings the topic up. The threat of exposure of his problem sees him simply waving his daughters words away. His hearing fades again during a meeting with Oliver, Toadie, Rosetta, Elle and Abby regarding the legal case against Allan Napier. Toadie is addressing Paul directly as his hearing goes and Paul is left to assume what Toadie has said. His response makes little sense to those gathered and Paul is left to mutter excuses whilst he flees the meeting in fluster.
Alan Napier collapses as he meets with Oliver, Toadie, Rosetta and Elle. He had been in the middle of explaining that the stress of the legal conflict was impacting his health dramatically. As he hands over papers which he says will give Oliver all of his family’s fortune Alan clutches his chest and falls to the floor. An ambulance is called as Oliver tries to keep Alan conscious. Alan tries to tells Oliver something and manages to gasp out that there was a reason as to why Oliver was already treated worse by his parents. Oliver is confused by Alan’s words and quietens him as they wait anxiously for the ambulance.
