Oliver is unable to shake his feelings for Carmella who has already admitted similar romantic ideas. Oliver stumbles upon Carmella dancing whilst cleaning the number 30 fridge. Her good mood breaks the awkwardness between them and sees Oliver come to a decision about their relationship. As Carmella hesitates when the pair get close, He tracks down Elle who Carmella cited as her reason for holding back. Oliver tells Elle that he wants to come clean about their plan to get revenge on Paul as the requirement that they act as if they are a couple is hampering his chances with Carmella. Elle agrees to this but has visible reservations as Oliver ignores her growing feelings for him as he pursues Carmella. Elle asks to accompany Oliver as he passes on the news and they both explain how Paul set Carmella up by getting Ned to arrange for Dylan to be found in her bed several weeks ago. Carmella is shocked by the information but reacts negatively to the counter scheme being set up by Elle and Oliver. They attempt to explain how they plan to continue in their fake marriage and go all they way by planning a wedding as Paul desires. They explain that this will lure Paul into a false sense of security and allow for them to exploit his weakness. Carmella listens and snaps as the vague plan is put before her. She tells them both that she wants not part of the revenge plot and wont settle for the sniff of romance Oliver is offering her.

Steph and Toadie move their relationship forward slowly as planned. Steph receives Boyd’s total concent for her to pursue happiness with Toadie. Whilst the date is set to be a traditional fair as Toadie invites for a quiet meal at number 28, the pair both struggle to maintain anything other than the close natural interaction between them which has been honed over their years of friendship. Moments before Steph knocks at the door Toadie splashes dishwater onto his top and smears food on it as he tries to clean the mess with a dirty teacloth. He hastily throws on a floral aprin to cover the problem and anwers the door to find Steph wearing shawl over her should and down her front to hide a similar accident. The pair keep up the pretence for several moments until Steph admits that the shawl is to hide where Charlie was sick. In response Toadie shows her his shirt and Steph’s eyes are drawn to the mess in the kitchen which doesn’t appear to have resulted in a meal. They both agree on a take out in the moment as they laugh at their mishaps. They settle on the number 28 sofa with beers Steph brought to the date. Whilst they laugh their conversation grows more serious as they both admit that they have questions about the ending of things with Max and Abby. Toadie goes first explaining that he was broken by Steph’s rejection and used an escort service which led to him meeting Abby.

Sky continues to mull over Terrence’s presence in her life. He continues to encourage her to embrace spiritualism and his teachings whilst Harold pleads with Sky to be cautious. Despite Harold’s words, Sky meets Terrence again organising to meet him in the General Store after hours to avoid Harold’s interference. Terrence attempts to get Sky to realise her own aptitude to Spiritualism. Sky begins to express doubts as she struggles to make any clear spiritual connection. Terrence’s words take on a more manipulative tone as he guides Sky into believing. He uses Sky’s feelings for Stingray suggesting that she should simply forget Stingray if she doesn’t choose to embrace his teachings. His words appear to strike a chord with Sky and she begins to agree that she may have experienced something. Their meeting is interrupted by Harold who unlocks the General Store door to find them inside. He and Sky have a heated discussion in the General Store kitchen. Terrence steps in and asks for a quiet word with Harold. Once alone Terrence says exactly what Harold wants to hear. He tells Harold that he believes that Sky isn’t dealing with her grief properly and suggest that Sky sees the new doctor for advice on grief counselling. Harold jumps at the idea and Sky meets with Dr Charlotte Stone the following day. Charlotte listens to Sky’s concerns and suggests that the Spiritualism may not be such a bad thing pointing out that she has drifted from the facts of science during her studying of medicine. Charlotte’s caring attitude and the fact that she sides with Sky warms Sky to the new doctor. Charlotte suggests that she be the one to provide the grief counselling and that she is qualified for the task. Whilst Sky leaves the doctors office happy, Charlottes true motives are quickly underlined as Terrence arrives at the surgery. He has an appointment and is waved through by Boyd. Once the door is closed behind them, Charlotte and Terrence move closer together and begin to kiss.

Paul has another episode where his hearing fades. He is walking through the grassy land near the Lassiter Complex. He pauses to watch a group of boys throwing a football around. As he watches their voices grow disoriented and the volume rises and falls abnormally. He tries to shake himself back to reality and is approached by Toadie who notices something looks wrong. Paul cannot hear what Toadie is saying and attempts to cover up his problems by loudly assuring Toadie that everything is fine. He staggers to Charlotte’s office for a medical opinion as Toadie watches on confused over what happened. Charlotte deflects Paul’s demands for a medical solution to his problem. She encourages Paul to calm down instead and begins massaging him to prevent his complaints. Paul is placated fairly quickly and further flirting from Charlotte sees him agree to reduce his workload and focus on massages rather than medical treatment for his problems.
