Karl and Susan struggle after Karl’s return from London visiting Izzy and Holly Hoyland. Susan attempts to portray her frustration at Karl’s lack of communication whilst abroad. Things deteriorate further as news of Susan’s closeness to Tom at the school camp spreads as Lolly recounts the fact that she saw Tom and Susan kiss to Zeke, Rachel and Bree. Susan quickly dismisses the rumour however she hesitates as Karl questions how she and Tom were in a position for Lolly to think they had kissed. Susan admits that she came close to kissing Tom and lashes out against Karl groans at this pointing out that he gave into temptation whereas she didn’t. The presence of Tom in their worries see Susan and Karl treat each other very frostily despite an initial thawing over Karl’s trip to London. Peace is reached with effort however Karl undoes their progress as he produces a camera as he and Susan are alone before a Kennedy-Kinski family dinner to celebrate his return. Karl informs Susan that he wants to film a message for Holly as a family. Susan is unhappy at his desire to bring Holly into their lives so fully however Karl refuses to apologises for focusing on Holly and tells Susan that he will not forget his daughter for anyone. To top things off Terrance’s words to Susan from Alex are brought up as Spiritualism is mentioned as Karl asks about any Ramsay Street gossip that he missed whilst away. The discussion is broached as the Kennedy-Kinski family dinner is underway. Zeke, Rachel and Susan all quieten as Karl asks what Terrance passed on from Alex. Susan reluctantly explains that Terrance had told her that Alex didn’t approve of her remarriage to Karl.
Paul contacts Elle in desperation as he finds himself low on funds. His assumption that Elle has agreed to allow him to return home is quickly debunked as Elle greets him coldly. She allows Paul to retrieve some of his things from number 22 but rejects Paul’s offers of reconciliation. She has a small change of heart as Paul drops his façade and asks Elle to lend him some money to tide him over. She hands over $50 and Paul visits number 28 to talk to Susan about resuming his business talks at Erinsborough High so he can generate money to sustain himself.
Lolly finds herself being shunned again after she relays her belief that Susan and Tom kissed whilst they were on the school camping trip. Bree stands up for Susan and she attacks Lolly suggesting she is simply spreading more rumours to get attention. Lolly’s words also create tension between Ringo and Rachel as he admits that he knew about the kiss and had concealed it from Rachel. His actions distress Rachel however they make up after Ringo apologises. Zeke finds himself comforting Lolly as she worries about pushing away her friends despite having told what she thought to be the truth. Lolly surprises Zeke by kissing him lightly on the cheek as thanks for his kind words.
Oliver clashes with Carmella who continues to act strangely switching from bouts of limitless optimism to flashes of anger and distress. Oliver suggest that it is the pills she has been taking and attempts to put his foot down by demanding that Carmella stop taking her prescription. He puts this ultimatum as Carmella clears all of the furniture out of number 30 whilst spring cleaning. Her plan is to simply replace everything with new items though the impulsive behaviour sees Oliver pause for thought. At his demands that she stop taking the pills, Carmella reacts aggressively and isn’t moved as Oliver ups the stakes by suggesting that he will end their relationship if Carmella doesn’t agree to stop taking the medication. Despite the tension of their conversation Carmella waves it away when Oliver approaches her later to apologise. She laughs at his concern as she balances upon a coffee table in the number 30 whilst trying to clean the light fittings in the room. The precariousness of her position and her frantic movement sees her tumble off the table where she is caught by an alarmed Oliver. As she gasps at the pain of a twisted ankle and drops into a patch of melancholy reflect, Carmella suggests that she should visit another doctor to get a second opinion on the medication prescribed by Dr Charlotte Stone.

Steph and Toadie spend their first night as a couple cuddled up in front of the television in the living room of number 32 Ramsay Street.
