Paul suffers as the symptoms of his mystery illness get worse. After several days of normality, he collapses as the school bell rings in the corridor of Erinsborough High. He had been talking to Tom Scully who was informing him that it wouldn’t be possible to take Paul on as a business studies mentor to the students due to a full roster. The bell rings and it sends Paul into a judder and he crumples to the floor complaining about the noise of the bell. Tom rushes to Paul’s side as students gather around the stricken Paul. Paul quickly regains his composure though and snarls his way free of those staring at him. He makes his way to the Lassiter complex to see Charlotte Stone for more drastic medical treatment. On the way he is distracted by Elle who acts on advice from Harold about offering Paul a stream of income to help him escape the tough financial situation due to Elle taking all of Paul’s wealth from him. Paul refuses her charity and proceeds into the doctor’s surgery. He is met by Karl who, acting as the receptionist for both Tim Collin’s and Associates and Dr. Stone, insists that he wait his turn rather than barging into Charlotte’s office as he had originally tried to do. Karl takes a degree of pleasure as Paul continues to complain about being made to wait however Karl’s attitude changes as he learns of Paul’s collapse. Paul’s heated conversation is heard by Karl as it carries into the waiting room outside. As Paul demands Charlotte gives him proper medicine rather than the herbal remedies she had advised him to take, she informs him that she will refer him to a neurologist.
Janelle continues to see Terrance despite mixed reactions to the Spiritualist. Whilst Terrance is charging high fees he provides a connection to Stingray which Janelle feels is worth the money. At Terrance’s suggestion, Janelle approaches Erinsborough High and outlines a plan to create a “Stingray Timmins” scholarship. The idea is to provide financial aid to a gifted student who is working in the film studies area.
Elle spends more time with Oliver as they begin implementing changes into the Erinsborough Lassiter hotel complex. They continue to be hands on with the staff of the hotel and reverse several of Paul’s harsher business rules. They approach Harold and suggest a mutual advertising partnership. Lassiter’s would recommend the General Store for food stuffs and the General Store would direct customers to Lassiter’s as the place to stay in Erinsborough.
Susan finds herself loosing control as her problems with Karl and the presence of Tom Scully continue to wear her down. After making peace with Karl, Susan gives into temptation and views the video he has filmed for Holly Hoyland. She is distressed as Karl is seen talking about the difficulties he is having with Susan knowing that ultimately the video will be seen by Izzy. With a lack of people to confide in Susan takes her frustrations out on her pupils, specifically Ringo who acts up in her English class. Tom notices her behaviour and offers to listen to her problems. After a moments thought she agrees and the pair head to the Lassiter Park to talk freely. As they arrive Susan breaks down into tears as the pain of recent events catch up with her. Tom seizes a moment as they discuss Karl frankly and attempts to kiss Susan. Whilst she is drawn towards the kiss initially, Susan pulls back before anything happens and is visibly shaken by Tom’s actions making it clear that, for her, the talk was only as friends. Janelle helps Susan to regain control of her life as she calls at number 28 having noticed Susan returning home from work early. Susan opens up to Janelle who listens quietly as Susan admits that she is furious with Karl and fears what will happen if she remains under the same roof as him at the moment. Janelle suggests Susan treats herself to some “Lyn Therapy” by taking some time off to visit their friend.
Toadie and Steph continue to enjoy their time together after Toadie moves into number 32. Their light hearted nature sees them having fun with each other rather than focusing on the more traditional parts of a romantic relationship as they relax in their makeshift bed in the living room of number 32. Toadie pulls a sickie the next day phoning Karl to let him know that he won’t be into work for the day.
