Janae finds herself spending more time with Ned despite her disgust over his involvement in the robbery of number 26. Janelle encourages Ned to offer his services as part of the slave deal she agreed to so that he can atone for his crime. Janae gets Ned to fix a broken toilet at the garage and accepts his offer to help her train for her upcoming sparring competition as Lou throws in the towel.

Rosetta prepares to ask Frazer to marry her as they head to the horse race track for the first time since Frazer’s accident. Frazer remains focused on overcoming his fear at returning to the place where he lost the use of his legs. Rosie’s presence helps his confidence and they both become swept up in the thrill of the races and working out who to bet on. Frazer suggests they move closer to the race track so they can really feel the excitement of the competition. As the day draws to an end Rosetta turns to Frazer and begins her proposal. She pulls the watch she bought for him from her pocket and gets down on one knee. Frazer listens in shock and utters his a firm “no” as Rosetta asks if he will marry her.

Ringo, Rachel and Zeke return to school as the weekend begins to take part in detention for their pranks against Tom Scully during the week. They remain disillusioned with Tom due to his involvement with Susan. Tom is frustrated by his lack of progress with Susan who is still detached from him despite his numerous efforts to rekindle their spark. Detention is set back as Tom locks them out of the classroom as the key snaps whilst in the lock. A locksmith is called however Tom dishes out intermediary punishments whilst they wait. He sets Ringo and Rachel cleaning the desks and floor in another classroom and demands a 500 word essay from Zeke about his wrongdoings. Tom leaves them alone as he receives a phone call on his mobile. Zeke suggests they follow him but his idea fails to get support due to the trouble they would get into if caught.

Susan returns to Erinsborough after taking an impromptu break as the pressure of Tom and Karl’s fascination with Holly Hoyland bore down on her. Number 28 is deserted apart from Audrey as Karl seems to have forgotten about her arrival and Zeke and Rachel are stuck in school. After a while Susan picks up the phone and calls Tom and asks to meet in the Scarlet Bar to talk things over. Tom is delighted at the call and arrives at the bar with a bottle of wine and some flowers. His belief that Susan’s contact means that she has chosen him over Karl is broken as he attempts to put everything on the line once again. Susan pulls away and underlines the fact that she remains committed to Karl and answers Tom’s astonishment that she plans to stick with Karl despite all his mistreatment with the fact the she loves Karl. Karl finds himself suddenly embracing romance after resisting urges by Bree, Zeke and Rachel to try and woo Susan. His change of heart comes as he stumbles upon Susan and Tom talking in the Scarlet Bar. The closeness of the pair and the flowers and wine see Karl return to number 28 and begin preparing a romantic meal for Susan when she gets home. The quiche he bakes burns however Susan appears as he frets over the charred mess. She tells him that they can make another and the pair kiss passionately.
