Still stressing about his unresolved feelings for Janae, Ned's stunned when his old high school girlfriend Kirsten turns up on his doorstep. Little does he realise that the biggest shock of all is yet to come: Kirsten has a young son called Mickey, and Ned's the father! The surprises keep on coming as Kirsten explains that she needs some time away to grieve for her recently deceased grandparents and is counting on Ned to look after Mickey for a few days. Kind hearted Ned can't say no but as Kirsten leaves Ned begins to panic. How on earth is he going to look after the little boy and his big dog, let alone break the news that he's Mickey's long lost dad? Luckily for Ned, Janae is on hand to offer all the moral support he needs.
Frazer is determined to find out how his younger brother Paul died and hopes to use Rosie's reunion tea to talk to his parents about it. However, when Frazer's mum Prue arrives and doesn't even acknowledge the fact that he's in a wheelchair, Frazer suddenly feels very uneasy about approaching the past with someone who can't even accept the present. Rosie intervenes and they get Prue talking, but even then she only reveals the most basic of details: Paul died tragically when he was a baby and she sees no sense in dragging up any more bad memories. As Frazer trawls his memory he starts to suspect that there's a lot more to the tragic story and perhaps his mother might have a point about leaving the past behind.
Janelle excitedly awaits Steiger's return home from the Solomon Islands. Her romantic reunion is short-lived when Steiger can't seem to stop throwing up. A trip to the hospital soon reveals that he contracted a mild dose of malaria overseas thanks to dodgy Doctor Stone prescribing him nowhere near enough anti-malaria tablets.
