Neighbours 5,000 Episodes
As with most television shows episode numbers are often used as milestones with the turning of say 100 episodes or 1000 providing scope for a celebration of the show.
This was the case with the 5000th episode of Neighbours which was to be reached in 2006. Whilst there were no major external celebrations, like a cast party, the build up to the 5000th episode was seen in show via a few unique features and some massive storylines.

The Block Numbers
With Neighbours being shot in blocks of five, the decision was taken to try to work these block numbers into the script in the weeks building up to episode 5000. Not all of the scenes with
the numbers in made the final cut of the episodes which they were placed but for the most part they made it and saw fans listening intently for any hints of the numbers in an episode.
