Max Hoyland's Trial
Episodes 5140 to 5145 saw the trial of Max Hoyland for the murder of Cameron Robinson. In 2006, Viewers saw Max deliberately run over Cameron as he mistook him for his twin Robert Robinson who had
spent several weeks terrorising the residents of Ramsay Street.
In the event Max's trial ended rapidly as Toadie pushes aside personal feelings to trick Robert whilst under questioning. Despite Robert having proven to be a model prisoner Toadie subtly goaded him whilst he was in the dock. This saw Toadie kissing Katya and showing Robert a message informing him that Katya never loved Robert which Toadie had written on his palms. The goading sees Robert snap and his violent outburst proves to the court that he was a threat to Katya and Max was acting in her best interest when he ran Cameron over.
Whilst the conclusion of the trial freed Max, his relationship with Steph was still very shaky. Shortly after the trial the pair agree to go their separate ways and Max moved out of Erinsborough to work on an oil rig. Steph and Boyd remained in number 32.
