Neighbours Rough Patch Gets Rougher
10th March 2006
Yet another media storm has been created over Neighbours poor viewing figures. This time Australian tabloids have suggested various levels of rumours including that the television soap may be taken off air for several weeks whilst it undergoes a revamp.
Fans seem unable decide how to respond to this news, which adds to the increasing commentries that Neighbours is truly struggling to impress viewers and the Ten television network in Australia. A large portion of fans continue to lay the blame squarely at the feet of the Neighbours production team and the feeling that they should be the ones being axed rather than the increasing number cast members. Another group suggests that perhaps an overhaul may be a good idea to update the show and bring it closer to the likes of its soap competition.
Currently the rumours of a break appear to have been debunked. It does seem that there will be an overhaul of the show though with the promise of new characters and a fresher looking show.
It could be argued that this overhaul has been ongoing for the last year or so and that the results haven't really impressed fans. The new cast members have been a mixed bag and the continued loss of characters is taking its toll on the ever faithful fan. The Neighbours team still seem to be being pressured into boosting viewing figures though and the promise of a "New" and "Fresh" show seem to be their current way of dealing with this.
