Logies Loom

Whilst Neighbours struggles at the annual Logies, it remains one of the few big Australian events which cast members attend.
There's a little under a week to go until the TV Week Logies. The annual Logie award show, which celebrates the best of Australian television, will be held on Sunday 4th April.
It remains one of the few public events attended by Neighbours stars who are often absent from other big Australian shows.
Traditionally Neighbours performs poorly when it comes to awards and tends to pick up few Logies despite being represented in a several categories every year.
The TV Week focus of the awards seems to count against Neighbours. The magazine tends to favour Home And Away which is represented in similar categories every year.
The tendency to emphasise popular shows and cast is also detrimental to Neighbours which is still struggling for ratings in Australia. It also sees older cast members such as Jackie Woodburne and Ian Smith overlooked each year in favour of their younger more publicly attractive counterparts.
Despite its flaws the Logies remains a big Neighbours event, if only to see cast members outside of their Neighbours role.
