Neighbours Next Big Stars

11th June 2008

Neighbours Gossip
Dolly Magazine and Neighbours partner for the 2008 Neighbours Next Big Stars competition..
A new Neighbours Dolly competition will see another round of public castings to choose new characters for the show.

The 2008 competition will be similar to the 2006 Dolly Teen Magazine event which saw the selection of Adelaide Kane and Sam Clark who took on the roles of Lolly Allen and Ringo Brown.

The announcement of the Neighbours Next Big Stars competition comes as the Neighbours team continue to look in alternative areas when casting. In recent months models Erin McNaught and Imogen Baily have been snapped up along with Australian Idol 4 contestant Dean Geyer who signed a contract which would tie future music releases to the show.

Such casting methods have been used in the past however the resulting characters have been met with mixed reaction from fans. Delta Goodrem was signed to a Neighbours contract similar Dean Geyers which saw her performing several of her hit singles on the soap as they were release to the Aria charts. Blair McDonough was first seen on Australian screens as a Big Brother contestant and Dan O'Connor as a contestant on Australian Idol.

The Neighbours Next Big Stars competition announcement comes as Neighbours continues to struggle for ratings in Australia and the Neighbours team look for ways to inject life back into the show.
