Logies Draw Blank
4th May 2008

Neighbours failed to win any of the categories the show was nominated in at this years Logies.
Whilst various cast members attended this years awards, Neighbours failed to win any of the categories it was nominated in.
Sam Clark and Adelaide Kane lost out to Lincoln Lewis of Home And Away and Bindi Irwin in the most popular male and female newcomer categories.
Natalie Blair struggled against strong competition in the most popular actress and most popular personality categories. Both awards went to Home and Away's Kate Ritchie.
Neighbours was also beaten in the most popular drama category. The Logie went to fellow soap Home And Away.
Modest performances at the annual Logie Awards are fairly typically for Neighbours. The show and its cast often finds themselves in similar categories to Home and Away which is the bigger and more popular soap in Australia.
The 2008 awards come as Neighbours continues to struggle for ratings in Australia. Attempts to emulate Home and Away's overly dramatic style of writing to entice viewers has split fans into two groups (one demanding more action and the other pleading for things to be toned down). A balance which will appease has yet to be found (despite frequent cast cuts and changes) and viewing figures continue to stall.
The muted Logie's performance confirms Neighbours current difficulties and the uphill task for the Neighbours team to get the show back on track.
